The Handover Ceremony of the Grant Assistance for Grassroots and Human Security Projects (GGP) “The Project for Rehabilitation and Expansion of the Etihad Primary School in Khartoum City”

On November 7 2022, Ambassador Hattori attended the handover ceremony of “The Project for Rehabilitation and Expansion of the Etihad Primary School in Khartoum City”. The project was funded by the Government of Japan, through the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP). The ceremony was attended by more than 100 people from Khartoum 3 area.
 
The Project was implemented by Gurat Amal Organization through a fund of USD 91,729. The project aimed at the provision of a safer child friendly educational environment through the construction of 4 Classrooms, and also the Rehabilitation 2 existing Classrooms in Etihad Primary School.
 
The handover ceremony was hosted by the school, in collaboration with Gurat Amal Organization and attended by H.E. Ambassador Hattori Takashi, Ambassador of Japan to Sudan and representatives of the local community, educational board members, and Gurat Amal Organization's staff.
 
At the ceremony, Ms. Rehab Ezza-Eldeen, President of Gurat Amal Organization, expressed her appreciation and pleasure to be here today and to be a part of the project rehabilitation and expansion of the Etihad primary school which has been fully funded by the Government of Japan.
 
Mr. Ibrahim, Headmaster of Etihad Primary School, expressed his appreciation for Japan’s continued support to help Sudan tackle childhood education issues, hoping that assistance continues in other future projects.            
 
Ambassador Hattori emphasized the great importance Japan offers for education, and mentioned that Japan has provided support in improving primary schools across Sudan, from Gedaref to West Darfur, and from Red Sea to South Kordofan, and today, here in the heart of Khartoum. He also mentioned that, on behalf of Japan, he is truly honored and grateful to have this opportunity to be able to support Etihad Primary School.
