Ambassador Hattori’s Meeting with Foreign Minister Mariam Al-Sadiq Al-Mahdi

On August 11, Ambassador Hattori met with Foreign Minister Mariam Al-Sadiq Al-Mahdi, and the two sides discussed the current status and prospects for strengthening Japan-Sudan relations in the areas of economic and business relations and development assistance for health, education, and vocational training.
 

1. At the outset, Foreign Minister Mariam Al-Mahdi expressed her appreciation for the support and assistance Japan has provided to Sudan in various realms, and mentioned that she hopes to see further reinforcement in the bilateral relationship in the field of economic development assistance, skilled labor training, and education.

2. Ambassador Hattori conveyed his gratitude for the opportunity and the Foreign Minister’s remarks, and explained measures being implemented to strengthen the economic and business ties between the two countries, such as the establishment of the Japan-Sudan Business Cooperation Committee. In addition, Ambassador Hattori summarized the various assistance Japan is providing in the domain of health and human resources development, and introduced the vision for a Free and Open Indo-Pacific.

3. In turn, Foreign Minister Mariam Al-Mahdi affirmed that Sudan and Japan should continue to coordinate closely in various fields to strengthen the bilateral relationship.
