Government of Japan  and FAO strengthen cooperation to support Food Production in Sudan’s River Nile State
The Embassy of Japan in Sudan is pleased to announce the launch of a new project to enhance food production for vulnerable farmers in River Nile State, in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations.
 
Funded by the Government of Japan with USD 3 million over two years and implemented through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the project will support approximately 43,000 farming households.
The project focuses on rehabilitating irrigation systems, providing improved seeds, and strengthening local agricultural capacity.
 
“As my Sudanese colleagues put it, agriculture is at the heart of Sudanese livelihoods and the economy, and we are glad to be part of the efforts to support this vital sector,” said Mr Nakahara Takanobu, Charge d’Affaires ad interim, Embassy of Japan to Sudan.
 
Japan remains committed to supporting Sudan’s agricultural sector and improving food security through strong collaboration with international and national partners.
